Founded in June 2009 and officially incorporated in October 2009, the Energy Information Standards Alliance (EIS Alliance) is the trade association for companies that provide products and services in the areas of energy management systems and smart grid technologies.
The Alliance works collaboratively to represent the energy consumer’s voice for the use of energy management systems.
The Alliance also works to educate and provide information to policymakers, utilities, the media, the financial community and stakeholders on how energy management systems and smart grid technologies can help modernize our electricity system and provide customers with new information and options for managing their electricity use.
The EIS Alliance is involved with the U.S. Government's Smart Grid Initiative. It has been active in both Priority Action Plan 10 (PAP 10) and Priority Action Plan 17 (PAP 17), especially in regards to energy information. In addition, the group is actively participating in the ASHRAE SPC-201 efforts.
