Commercial

The EIS Alliance is a consortium of building equipment suppliers, energy consultants, and building owners working together to develop common energy information standards that allow facility professionals to intelligently manage building energy consumption by enabling the sharing of energy information between building equipment.

The EIS Alliance believes that this type of cooperation is needed to meet the US Department Of Energy (DOE) goal of making Net Zero Energy (NZE) commercial buildings marketable by 2025. The commercial market is characterized by buildings larger than 1000 sq ft in size that devote more than 50% of their space to commercial activities.  In the U.S., this comprises close to 4.9M buildings with over 71B sq ft of floor space.  These buildings consume more than 6.5T BTUs of energy.¹
